Narrative:
Teb ATIS advised landing runway 1. Called teb tower 5-6 mi on right base runway 1. We were advised in sight and to continue. Short final was told to go around. We thought we were to make right traffic for runway 6. We made right traffic for runway 6 and were cleared to land. The controller noticed we were on a right downwind for runway 6 and told us to make a 180 degree turn for a left downwind for runway 24. We complied and landed west/O incident on runway 24. Later found out that runway 1 was closed.
