Narrative:
I filed a VFR flight plan from abq direct saf direct skx. I was in a hurry to depart abq and did not request a briefing along the route of flight. High pressure dominated the area and severe clear unrestricted VFR prevailed over the entire state. I arrived in saf 2 mins before the tower opened. I landed on runway 2. When I left saf I first monitored ATIS. I heard that runway 2 was temporarily closed for crack sealing. I inquired with the tower if runway 2 was closed when I landed. They said yes, it was. The runway had no X's on it and ATIS said only that the tower would open up at XY00 am. Solution to problem: always get complete briefing from flight service and verify (ask) active NOTAMS at destination. Saf controllers are very cool. Don't think anything was reported, but being a professional pilot, a violation would be intolerable.
