Narrative:
Departing from ZZZ; we had a complete failure of the system a hydraulics after the retraction of the gear and the flaps to up; system a engine and electric hydraulic pump low pressure light. We noticed there was no pressure or quantity. We accomplished the QRH checklist. We checked weather; weight and performance; contacted company; flight attendants; passengers and ATC. Returned for landing where we stopped on runway xxr. Airport operations and fire department checked the aircraft before being towed to A6 by our company.
