Narrative:
Flight pushed back from the gate, started engines and taxied to the active west/O incident. Clearance for takeoff was received and the aircraft lined up for takeoff. Before takeoff checklist was completed and power was advanced. A muffled bang was heard from the aft cabin. Cockpit was contacted by cabin and informed cabin attendants had seen a flash and the rear cabin was filling with smoke. The aircraft was stopped, brakes were parked, engines were shutdown, and evacuation alarm was sound. Evacuation checklist was completed and cockpit crew preceeded aft to assist in evacuation. Six of eight slides were deployed, the L3 and 4 doors were not opened because they were in the area of the initial flash. Aircraft was evacuated in less than 2 mins, 223 passenger and 14 crew members exited with no major injuries.
