Narrative:
Bridge operation normal to the aircraft. As passengers deplaned a couple with a small toddler were stepping off the aircraft and the toddler lost his balance and almost fell through the opening. The opening is on the right outboard side of the floor where the bumper had been modified. The gap is approximately 8'x12'.

Title: Air carrier personnel reported a small child almost fell through the gap between the jet bridge and the aircraft.
Narrative: Bridge operation normal to the aircraft.
