Narrative:
The incident occurred when the veh I was driving was cleared from a closed runway to the aircraft cargo parking ramp. A company large transport was positioning himself to enter the taxiway for taxi and takeoff. The company ground handlers who were not in contact with ground control, reported a near-miss with their aircraft and the veh I was driving. The pilot of the large transport was told by ground control to hold short for the veh to clear, the pilot acknowledged hold short but continued to maneuver to align his aircraft with the taxiway. When I cleared my veh I reported clear and the large transport was cleared to taxi. The pilot acknowledged cleared to taxi and continued to taxi. The pilot made no reference to a close call with my veh. I feel the pilot, myself, and the ground controller knew and understood the situation and there was no potential for an incident. The ground handlers, however, were not in radio contact and were completely unaware of what was happening. Possible resolution would be to have ground handlers monitor ground control.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ARPT VEHICLE CLEARED BY GND CTL. ACFT READY FOR PUSH BACK CLEARED BY GND CTL. GND PERSONNEL NOT ABLE TO HEAR INSTRUCTIONS FELT THERE WAS A NEAR COLLISION.
Narrative: THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN THE VEH I WAS DRIVING WAS CLRED FROM A CLOSED RWY TO THE ACFT CARGO PARKING RAMP. A COMPANY LGT WAS POSITIONING HIMSELF TO ENTER THE TXWY FOR TAXI AND TKOF. THE COMPANY GND HANDLERS WHO WERE NOT IN CONTACT WITH GND CTL, RPTED A NEAR-MISS WITH THEIR ACFT AND THE VEH I WAS DRIVING. THE PLT OF THE LGT WAS TOLD BY GND CTL TO HOLD SHORT FOR THE VEH TO CLR, THE PLT ACKNOWLEDGED HOLD SHORT BUT CONTINUED TO MANEUVER TO ALIGN HIS ACFT WITH THE TXWY. WHEN I CLRED MY VEH I RPTED CLR AND THE LGT WAS CLRED TO TAXI. THE PLT ACKNOWLEDGED CLRED TO TAXI AND CONTINUED TO TAXI. THE PLT MADE NO REFERENCE TO A CLOSE CALL WITH MY VEH. I FEEL THE PLT, MYSELF, AND THE GND CTLR KNEW AND UNDERSTOOD THE SITUATION AND THERE WAS NO POTENTIAL FOR AN INCIDENT. THE GND HANDLERS, HOWEVER, WERE NOT IN RADIO CONTACT AND WERE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING. POSSIBLE RESOLUTION WOULD BE TO HAVE GND HANDLERS MONITOR GND CTL.
