Narrative:
Understood clearance as 'position and hold runway 12R'. Taking the active we saw a cpr light transport Y jet about 6 mi on final runway 12R. While holding in position for takeoff, the light transport Y inquired about the 'aircraft on the runway'. Tower told us to exit the runway. Short after the light transport Y landed , tower cleared us back on runway 12R and for takeoff. Tower and ground were combined.
