Narrative:
The incident in question is a panel departure the aircraft during flight. The problem arose during routine maintenance to the main gear doors. The panel in question is just forward of those. During the reassembly procedure the screws were not installed in the panel. I was called away by a coworker and foreman to help on another problem on the aircraft. Then a push to get the act on line occurred. Other problems awaited my attention so I attended to them and got the aircraft outside for takeoff. The aircraft was stopped at its next destination, the panel was found missing. The aircraft was grounded until suitable replacement parts could be secured. The panel was then replaced in 2 days. I was suspended for one week by my employers for my mistake. I have been having some traumatic personal problems lately. They are affecting my work ability. Under normal circumstances this would not have happened. This stress coupled with fatigue was preying on my ability to perform quality maintenance and to make sound decisions. It may not have been clearly stated, but I am the one who made the error, and I am also the one who reported it to get the aircraft stopped and inspected.
