Narrative:
Eaa fly-in cosponsored by FAA flight standards district office of baton rouge, la. I recieved a flyer from the above announcing a fly-in. The notice did not contain any reference to a temperature tower being in operation during the fly-in. I used the unicom frequency on my sectional chart to announce my position and flew a normal arrival traffic pattern. While at the fly-in, I learned that a temperature tower was in use. I used the tower frequency for departure. I had no traffic conflict and no contact with FAA. I think that when a temperature tower is to be in use for fly-in type events this information should be presented in the announcement of the event. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information.reporter had only a short flight to hammond airport, VFR flight, and did not check for NOTAMS. He indicated he had heard from another pilot that there was a local NOTAM for the air show advising there was a temperature tower.

Title: TEMPORARY TWR ACTIVE AT HAMMOND ARPT DURING AIRSHOW.
Narrative: EAA FLY-IN COSPONSORED BY FAA FLT STANDARDS DISTRICT OFFICE OF BATON ROUGE, LA. I RECIEVED A FLYER FROM THE ABOVE ANNOUNCING A FLY-IN. THE NOTICE DID NOT CONTAIN ANY REFERENCE TO A TEMP TWR BEING IN OPERATION DURING THE FLY-IN. I USED THE UNICOM FREQ ON MY SECTIONAL CHART TO ANNOUNCE MY POS AND FLEW A NORMAL ARR TFC PATTERN. WHILE AT THE FLY-IN, I LEARNED THAT A TEMP TWR WAS IN USE. I USED THE TWR FREQ FOR DEP. I HAD NO TFC CONFLICT AND NO CONTACT WITH FAA. I THINK THAT WHEN A TEMP TWR IS TO BE IN USE FOR FLY-IN TYPE EVENTS THIS INFO SHOULD BE PRESENTED IN THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE EVENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO.RPTR HAD ONLY A SHORT FLT TO HAMMOND ARPT, VFR FLT, AND DID NOT CHK FOR NOTAMS. HE INDICATED HE HAD HEARD FROM ANOTHER PLT THAT THERE WAS A LCL NOTAM FOR THE AIR SHOW ADVISING THERE WAS A TEMP TWR.
