Narrative:
On july, 1990, I flew from pwk to tys in knoxville, tn. Approximately 35 NM north of indianapolis, I contacted indianapolis approach control with position. Indianapolis responded that 'they were shorthanded' and that 'he was handling 4 or 5 spots,' and that 'he would get back to us.' I proceeded southbound over the indianapolis arsa. I continued to monitor the indianapolis approach frequency, but they did not reestablish contact apparently due to workload. I had hoped for information on other traffic and current conditions relative to the camp atterbury restr area (R3401). I was busy monitoring arsa traffic and continued southbound toward the louisville VOR until I diverted east with the purpose of avoiding the restr area. Visually, I had interstate highway 65 just off my left wing as I proceeded past columbus, in. Standiford approach, passed along a request that I call the indianapolis approach control supervisor at the conclusion of my flight. The indianapolis approach control supervisor, stated that radar tracking indicated that I had flown into the R3401 restr area, transiting to the southeast. I indicated that I had diverted to the east to avoid the area and that I had visually marked interstate highway 65 off my left wing as I passed columbus southbound.

Title: GA SMA ALLEDGED UNAUTH PENETRATION OF R3401.
Narrative: ON JULY, 1990, I FLEW FROM PWK TO TYS IN KNOXVILLE, TN. APPROX 35 NM N OF INDIANAPOLIS, I CONTACTED INDIANAPOLIS APCH CTL WITH POS. INDIANAPOLIS RESPONDED THAT 'THEY WERE SHORTHANDED' AND THAT 'HE WAS HANDLING 4 OR 5 SPOTS,' AND THAT 'HE WOULD GET BACK TO US.' I PROCEEDED SBND OVER THE INDIANAPOLIS ARSA. I CONTINUED TO MONITOR THE INDIANAPOLIS APCH FREQ, BUT THEY DID NOT REESTABLISH CONTACT APPARENTLY DUE TO WORKLOAD. I HAD HOPED FOR INFO ON OTHER TFC AND CURRENT CONDITIONS RELATIVE TO THE CAMP ATTERBURY RESTR AREA (R3401). I WAS BUSY MONITORING ARSA TFC AND CONTINUED SBND TOWARD THE LOUISVILLE VOR UNTIL I DIVERTED E WITH THE PURPOSE OF AVOIDING THE RESTR AREA. VISUALLY, I HAD INTERSTATE HWY 65 JUST OFF MY L WING AS I PROCEEDED PAST COLUMBUS, IN. STANDIFORD APCH, PASSED ALONG A REQUEST THAT I CALL THE INDIANAPOLIS APCH CTL SUPVR AT THE CONCLUSION OF MY FLT. THE INDIANAPOLIS APCH CTL SUPVR, STATED THAT RADAR TRACKING INDICATED THAT I HAD FLOWN INTO THE R3401 RESTR AREA, TRANSITING TO THE SE. I INDICATED THAT I HAD DIVERTED TO THE E TO AVOID THE AREA AND THAT I HAD VISUALLY MARKED INTERSTATE HWY 65 OFF MY L WING AS I PASSED COLUMBUS SBND.
