Narrative:
When cruising at 4000 ft enroute I noticed that the oil pressure dropped couple of psi; I decided to keep monitoring it; that was during cruise; when we were above ZZZ the oil pressure had dropped to 31PSI; and I decided to tell center that I wanted to land in ZZZ1; they issued me a new clearance and I requested to get below the cloud layer since I wasn't able to see the ground; ATC then instructed me to descend to 3000 ft and I was in the cloud layer so I requested lower to 2000 ft; ATC then instructed me to descend to 2500 ft and there I broke out of the clouds; I reported ZZZ1 insight when I was above ZZZ; but when I added power to cruise the engine got rough and the oil pressure went down to the yellow arc below 30 psi; then I told ATC I was going to land instead in ZZZ since I was closer and did not want to take the risk of not making it to ZZZ1; landed safely there and upon landing the oil pressure was still low.airplane was written up about having low oil pressure issues before my flight.
