Fuel imbalance alert 250 NM from critical point (cp). Left main indicated 1;500 lbs less than right main. Notified ATC and turned back. Ran QRH and determined there was no fuel leak. Landing uneventful.

Title: Air carrier flight crew reported a fuel imbalance while flying on an oceanic route. Suspecting a fuel leak; they notified ATC; and diverted to a suitable airport.
