Narrative:
Cruising at FL360; the number 1 idg (integrated drive generator) light illuminated. We completed the 'drive' light checklist. The APU would not start and the 'fault' light illuminated on three start attempts. On each attempt the 'fault' light illuminated at the end of the start sequence and extinguished when the start switch was turned off. Two attempts were made at FL360; more than 90 seconds apart. The third attempt was made approximately 10 minutes later while descending through FL290 with the same result. Post flight showed almost zero oil quantity in the idg and oil dripping from the number 1 engine cowling.
