Narrative:
We were in an east configuration. I was working the local assist position. The local controller issued a takeoff clearance to aircraft X with aircraft Y on a 2 mile final for the crossing runway. I had turned my attention away to coordinate with the coordinator position at TRACON about a pending departure that had been issued a departure procedure not depicted on the flight progress strip. During that time; the aasc alerted that there was an unsafe situation. The local controller then issued go-around instructions to aircraft Y as they were in the flare and aircraft X was still on the departure roll still west and prior to the intersecting runway.some years it is rare that we work the southeast configuration and thus are rusty at it. A thorough briefing covering the different procedures; traps and arrival/departure cut-off points prior to the typical season would be helpful. Sometimes such a briefing happens; but it is low priority and not all the crews get them.
