Narrative:

I was approaching ZZZ from the southeast; turning right to enter the left downwind for runway xx in mooney M20K. I passed aircraft Y; which was approaching the same downwind pattern. My aircraft passed below and to its right within 100 yards. I had been monitoring CTAF since about 9 miles from the airport and was aware of one other aircraft reporting on the ILS but heard no other traffic calls. I made my first position call on CTAF approximately 5 mile southeast of ZZZ. I was broadcasting ads-B out and monitoring ads-B in and was aware only of the aircraft reporting on the ILS. As I approached my 45 degree entry to the left downwind to runway xx I saw aircraft Y ahead; above and to my left; and I immediately advised on CTAF of my position and intentions. Then I reported again and advised aircraft Y to look for me out its right window as I turned away from it onto the left downwind. It appeared to continue its heading toward intersection with its downwind leg. I heard no acknowledgment of any of my reports and heard no position reports from aircraft Y at any time. Being considerably faster than aircraft Y and being below and clear to its right; I proceeded on the downwind; base and final; making appropriate position reports; and finally; reported clearing the runway. At no time was there danger of collision once I had aircraft Y in sight; even had aircraft Y descended and turned to the right towards me.after landing and parking; I was confronted angrily and offensively by a passenger/pilot of aircraft Y; asserting that my actions were in violation of far and were a threat to safety. I responded politely and did not engage further with him as he was evidently agitated and I believe in error regarding his assessment of the situation.
