Narrative:
On the descent into ZZZ; when we loaded the ILS into the FMS; both fmss timed out. We waited for FMC 1 and FMC 2 to show available again. They were selected and another attempt was made to enter the ILS with the same result. All that was showing on the navigation display was TCAS displays and the airport. At that time; ATC was notified that we had FMS failure and vectors were requested. We were close to the airport and decided that vectors to final would be the best solution. Some troubleshooting was continued; like just trying to put some waypoints from the approach into the FMS; but the actions kept timing out the fmss. At some point before turning final; the ILS was hard tuned. We were on vectors and other things were happening like the auto throttles disengaging and incorrect FMS displays on the nav display. The flying was done by the PIC with the autopilot off. We received numerous vectors and I can't remember them all. I was late turning right on one; but can't recall the position of the aircraft. I was not advised that there was any issue by ATC; but this may have interfered with the patter flow. While on these vectors; we were never in a position to say we were visual until we received the final vectors. I think we were vectored out of the pattern and then back in to follow an aircraft in front of us. We were requested to follow a preceding aircraft. We did and picked up the raw data ILS and then visual with the runway and landed.
