Narrative:

This is to report a problem with the hammond (hmu) VOR. This NAVAID (hmu) has been out of service for nearly 10 years; and will more than likely never be repaired. The new orleans sectional chart depicts this VOR with a compass rose and the VOR frequency plus identifier. I have been asked by several pilots not based locally and they all feel that this is confusing since the VOR does not work. If there is no intention to return the VOR to service; I feel that the compass rose and VOR frequency information should be removed from the chart.
