Narrative:
On arrival to jfk; we were being vectored for the ILS 22L. While we were on base an A380 was vectored above and ahead of us to the ILS 22R. Upon turning final; we were configured with flaps 20 and had just put the gear down; when we encountered their wake. The airplane rolled left and right; with the largest deviation being approximately 40 degrees to the right. We received a bank angle warning. As the turbulence subsided; I called a go around. The captain started the go around and I reported it to the tower. We climbed up to 3000 feet and were handed off to approach to be vectored to the east for another attempt. On the downwind; the captain made a public address to the passengers to explain what had happened and offer reassurance. We continued for another ILS 22L and landed without further incident.
