Narrative:
Lampson airport was closed for construction for 3 weeks beginning mon 10 am 8/90. We operate a maintenance and repair FBO at this airport. I am the owner of the business. At wed noon 8/90, it was necessary to move a customers airplane to another airport (healdsburg) for a painting appointment made 4 months earlier. The airplane was in my shop since march undergoing major modifications including an engine overhaul and the job was well past its delivery time. On mon we departed several airplanes from lampson up to 11 am (no problem). On wed with the cooperation of the construction company we departed on a new taxiway during their lunch shut down for a 15 min flight to healdsburg. There was no problem with the takeoff and departure nor any conflict with men and equipment. Still in the lampson airport area at 5000' the engine began losing oil pressure and a strong smell of fuel was present. I reduced power immediately and began a descent to the nearest landing area, lampson. Although I didn't want to return to lampson I had no choice. I could see equipment beginning to resume work and they would not be expecting to see me again. The taxiway was still clear (2200' long) so I landed and taxied clear with still low oil pressure. The unexpected arrival caused concern to some person that called the local sheriff and I was questioned about the flight. I showed them the airplane and described the emergency landing. At this writing we still have not determined the cause or damage of low oil pressure, but the fuel smell was due to a bad fuel line and fitting that we replaced. The scheduled appointment or painting was changed and no further flts will be made until the airport is reopened.

Title: REPAIR SHOP FERRYING ACFT DEPARTS FROM CLOSED ARPT. HAS ENGINE PROBLEM. EMERGENCY LNDG AT CLOSED ARPT.
Narrative: LAMPSON ARPT WAS CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION FOR 3 WKS BEGINNING MON 10 AM 8/90. WE OPERATE A MAINT AND REPAIR FBO AT THIS ARPT. I AM THE OWNER OF THE BUSINESS. I COULD SEE EQUIP BEGINNING TO RESUME WORK AND THEY WOULD NOT BE EXPECTING TO SEE ME AGAIN. THE TXWY WAS STILL CLR (2200' LONG) SO I LANDED AND TAXIED CLR WITH STILL LOW OIL PRESSURE. THE UNEXPECTED ARR CAUSED CONCERN TO SOME PERSON THAT CALLED THE LCL SHERIFF AND I WAS QUESTIONED ABOUT THE FLT. I SHOWED THEM THE AIRPLANE AND DESCRIBED THE EMER LNDG. AT THIS WRITING WE STILL HAVE NOT DETERMINED THE CAUSE OR DAMAGE OF LOW OIL PRESSURE, BUT THE FUEL SMELL WAS DUE TO A BAD FUEL LINE AND FITTING THAT WE REPLACED. THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT OR PAINTING WAS CHANGED AND NO FURTHER FLTS WILL BE MADE UNTIL THE ARPT IS REOPENED.
