Narrative:
Ground control accused me of holding short past the runway hold short markings. I was asked to taxi to a runway via G intersection. When I reached the intersection and held short of the runway 21. I looked for the hold markings; but could not find any; even though I was holding well short of the runway 21 at the intersection. Ground control asked me to call them when I landed and further informed me that I held short past the hold short marking. I called just as they requested after and gave them my contact information.I have discussed this with another pilot who says that this hold short area is very uncommon because the hold short mark is well before one would expect to hold short. Additionally; this hold short marking is not prior to entering the runway as all other hold shorts that we've seen; but rather at the intersection before one makes the turn towards what would seemingly be a holding short area. I apologize for this error and I will hold short at the official intersection next time; but I think the airport might consider adding a sign in addition to the hold short markings since the hold short is such a greater distance away from the runway than pilots normally encounter.
