Narrative:
I was the tow driver for [the aircraft at the gate] to tow to the maintenance facility. Mechanic a was the brake rider. We received clearance to push back to xb and as I pushed out with wing walkers to guide the plane out pass xa and they returned to their vehicles and I continued to push to xb. I heard ground saying that you are too close to the aircraft and then I stopped. I had no idea that I had hit [another] aircraft at that time and I proceed to move forward for few feet and a technician came out and yelled at me and said 'stop and hold it right there'. I thought that he was upset with me because I was getting too close to their aircraft and didn't realize that I had made contact with the aircraft and damaged their tail. I wouldn't leave the incident if I would have known that I hit another aircraft. I had a little confusion because the technician told me to hold and then the brake rider told me to move to spot xb so I moved to spot xb and waited for the brake rider to contact ground.
