Narrative:
I was training a fairly new developmental that still requires input and guidance to control the traffic when traffic is other than slow and routine. This was our third and final training session of the day and traffic was starting to build. We were both standing up looking out the window and watching the radar to see our inbounds. I was giving suggestions to my trainee as how to handle the traffic that was impending. Aircraft X was cleared for takeoff on runway 14. Approximately 90 seconds later; someone said [vehicle] over the frequency. I scanned the runway and observed a [vehicle] crossing runway 14 at taxiway uniform which is 6;000 feet from the departure point of runway 14. The [vehicle] was clear of the runway by the time aircraft X crossed over the point at which the van crossed. Close the runway for arrivals and departures during mowing operations.
