Narrative:
We were flying a scheduled flight from ZZZ1 to ZZZ. As we approached ZZZ from the sse; we were lined up for a straight-in approach to land on runway xx from about 10 nm out. A PA-31 was also approaching from the southwest. We made a radio call approximately 5 miles out with our intention of a straight-in approach as previously stated. Aircraft Y radioed that he was crossing the field for a right downwind to xx. My copilot and I located; and stayed in visual contact as we got closer to ZZZ. As he made his downwind call; I restated we were on what was then a 4 mile final to land xx. When we were at approximately 2 miles from the runway; aircraft Y called and turned right base for xx. I again radioed we were on a close final for xx at which point aircraft Y continued his base leg. Realizing he was not making any attempt to communicate his intentions or avoid us; I added power to climb and abort the landing. Aircraft Y continued turning final 200-300 feet below us. I am confident that had I not taken action to abort the landing; we would have had a midair collision with aircraft Y. As we re-entered the pattern to land; I asked via the radio if he had heard us making radio calls. He stated that he had heard us. My copilot and I agree that he was simply not paying us any attention. Had he scanned directly ahead of himself as he turned right base; he would have seen us clearly. My copilot said to me; 'he's turning right toward us.' not only did he not pay us attention; he deliberately entered the incorrect traffic pattern for ZZZ and deliberately ignored right of way procedures putting himself and us; along with our passengers; in danger.
