Narrative:
After completion of the preflight activities I turned my radio to ATIS and received current information. Next I contacted ground control. I stated that I was at the FBO and requested departure to the south. Ground control gave me a squawk code and told me to taxi to 19 and hold via H. Since I was unfamiliar with the airport, I checked my runway diagram and then read back the clearance. Next I proceeded down taxiway H to runway 19. At the intersection I checked for traffic in both directions. There was no traffic so I proceeded through the intersection across 19 on H. After I crossed 19 ground control asked if I was still on the frequency. I said yes. He then asked if I realized that I had just crossed on active runway. I said yes, and that I thought I had been given clearance to do so. Ground control said that I was supposed to hold at 19. I told him that I thought I was supposed to hold at the end of 19. He said that I was to hold at the intersection. He then asked if I needed the whole runway. I said no. He then told me to turn 180 degrees and hold short of runway 19. I did a run-up, got clearance to takeoff and proceeded with the flight. When I returned to the airport I was told to call the watch commander. I tied down the aircraft and called the watch commander.

Title: SMA PLT CROSSES ACTIVE RWY AT CAK WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Narrative: AFTER COMPLETION OF THE PREFLT ACTIVITIES I TURNED MY RADIO TO ATIS AND RECEIVED CURRENT INFO. NEXT I CONTACTED GND CTL. I STATED THAT I WAS AT THE FBO AND REQUESTED DEP TO THE S. GND CTL GAVE ME A SQUAWK CODE AND TOLD ME TO TAXI TO 19 AND HOLD VIA H. SINCE I WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT, I CHKED MY RWY DIAGRAM AND THEN READ BACK THE CLRNC. NEXT I PROCEEDED DOWN TXWY H TO RWY 19. AT THE INTXN I CHKED FOR TFC IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. THERE WAS NO TFC SO I PROCEEDED THROUGH THE INTXN ACROSS 19 ON H. AFTER I CROSSED 19 GND CTL ASKED IF I WAS STILL ON THE FREQ. I SAID YES. HE THEN ASKED IF I REALIZED THAT I HAD JUST CROSSED ON ACTIVE RWY. I SAID YES, AND THAT I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN GIVEN CLRNC TO DO SO. GND CTL SAID THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO HOLD AT 19. I TOLD HIM THAT I THOUGHT I WAS SUPPOSED TO HOLD AT THE END OF 19. HE SAID THAT I WAS TO HOLD AT THE INTXN. HE THEN ASKED IF I NEEDED THE WHOLE RWY. I SAID NO. HE THEN TOLD ME TO TURN 180 DEGS AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 19. I DID A RUN-UP, GOT CLRNC TO TKOF AND PROCEEDED WITH THE FLT. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE ARPT I WAS TOLD TO CALL THE WATCH COMMANDER. I TIED DOWN THE ACFT AND CALLED THE WATCH COMMANDER.
