Narrative:
Aircraft attempted to land in opposing directions on the same runway. CTAF communication was established by both parties but imperfect reception led to a miscommunication. Once a conflict had been recognized during the landing roll-out; some evasive action took place that led to the other aircraft briefly leaving the runway and causing minor damage from striking an edge light. There were no injuries except to our pride. The event was discussed at length between us and led to an increased appreciation of the importance of clear and concise communication in the traffic pattern.
