Narrative:

We had cancelled IFR with ZOB to continue a VFR approach to a landing at runway 36 at sky. As we approached this short runway, the size and exterior sound level of the aircraft incited several of the local inhabitants to call the airport manager and complain about the exterior sound levels of the aircraft. Several inhabitants threatened to complain to the FAA and local authorities. At no time was there a threat to safety--just an approach to landing where the aircraft's exterior sound levels irritated the lcls. I would suggest that this runway be limited to smaller aircraft or quieter aircraft. Aircraft noise abatement procedures for larger aircraft should be considered or implemented to alleviate any further complaints.

Title: SOUND ABATEMENT PROBLEM MADE OBVIOUS BY COMPLAINTS FROM LCL RESIDENTS REGARDING THE APCH AND LNDG OF AN SMT TURBO PROPELLER USING RWY 36 AT SKY.

Narrative: WE HAD CANCELLED IFR WITH ZOB TO CONTINUE A VFR APCH TO A LNDG AT RWY 36 AT SKY. AS WE APCHED THIS SHORT RWY, THE SIZE AND EXTERIOR SOUND LEVEL OF THE ACFT INCITED SEVERAL OF THE LCL INHABITANTS TO CALL THE ARPT MGR AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THE EXTERIOR SOUND LEVELS OF THE ACFT. SEVERAL INHABITANTS THREATENED TO COMPLAIN TO THE FAA AND LCL AUTHORITIES. AT NO TIME WAS THERE A THREAT TO SAFETY--JUST AN APCH TO LNDG WHERE THE ACFT'S EXTERIOR SOUND LEVELS IRRITATED THE LCLS. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THIS RWY BE LIMITED TO SMALLER ACFT OR QUIETER ACFT. ACFT NOISE ABATEMENT PROCS FOR LARGER ACFT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED OR IMPLEMENTED TO ALLEVIATE ANY FURTHER COMPLAINTS.
