Narrative:
Small aircraft X VFR/75 over highway 99, 30 mi southeast, leaving bfl airspace. Pilot advised near midair collision 50' small aircraft Y same altitude, same direction. We just terminated. Other aircraft (small aircraft Y) primary target only, following freeway. Lots of aircraft on scope (holiday). Duplicate beacons, false targets, no mode C on 1 of our radar channels. Saw a VFR beacon, no mode C 35 mi southeast, on the small aircraft Y after near midair collision. Recommend terminate flight following/radar service sooner due to limitations of radar.

Title: 2 ACFT AT THE SAME ALT AND DIRECTION OF FLT CAME VERY CLOSE TO COLLIDING.
Narrative: SMA X VFR/75 OVER HWY 99, 30 MI SE, LEAVING BFL AIRSPACE. PLT ADVISED NMAC 50' SMA Y SAME ALT, SAME DIRECTION. WE JUST TERMINATED. OTHER ACFT (SMA Y) PRIMARY TARGET ONLY, FOLLOWING FREEWAY. LOTS OF ACFT ON SCOPE (HOLIDAY). DUPLICATE BEACONS, FALSE TARGETS, NO MODE C ON 1 OF OUR RADAR CHANNELS. SAW A VFR BEACON, NO MODE C 35 MI SE, ON THE SMA Y AFTER NMAC. RECOMMEND TERMINATE FLT FOLLOWING/RADAR SVC SOONER DUE TO LIMITATIONS OF RADAR.
