Narrative:
During the climb out from 500 AGL at a map following an IAP over ZZZ on a northeast heading at about 900 AGL; I noticed an unusual vibration which started to worsen by the second. ATC was informed and the decision to return to the nearby airfield was made immediately as the severity of the vibration increased rapidly. A landing clearance was obtained and altitude maintained until landing was assured. During the descent from pattern altitude; cht #6 indication spiked into the caution range but did not hit red line as the power had already been reduced for final approach to landing.
