Narrative:
I completed 787 captain IOE (initial operating experience) [recently]. My first scheduled flight is not until [18 days later]. Despite my efforts to pick up a trip earlier; I have been unsuccessful. I reached out to [scheduling] for a 'proficiency' trip but was told only to contact the [training] desk if consolidation was in doubt. Consolidation isn't the issue. I don't believe it is in the best interest of safety to have an 18 day break following IOE and prior to first solo.
