Narrative:
Taxiing our to [runway] at ZZZ; crossing rwy xy; a mylar 'party' balloon drifted into our path and was ingested by the number 1 engine. Number 1 engine failed immediately. Secured the engine and returned to the gate for maintenance.the aircraft was removed from service. All passengers were accommodated on the next hourly shuttle flight.[caused by] trash on the field.

Narrative: Taxiing our to [runway] at ZZZ; crossing Rwy XY; a Mylar 'party' balloon drifted into our path and was ingested by the Number 1 engine. Number 1 Engine failed immediately.
