Narrative:
After arriving at the aircraft; I checked the logbook and found that it was signed off with a new release on (date) for aircraft X. I checked for all three landing gear pins in their storage space. The first officer went outside and did the walkaround. He found a bolt in the left main landing gear. I notified both the maintenance supervisor and chief pilot of what was found. The bolt was long enough to prevent the landing gear from retracting.
