Narrative:
After landing FAA associate administrator for air traffic came to the cockpit and informed us that our F/a did not check the lav for passenger before landing. After talks met the lead F/a. She told us the lav was checked to see if the door was latched and no 'occupied' sign was visible. After landing 2 children emerged from the lav. To prevent the occurrence I suggest the lav be visually checked by the F/a before each landing.
