Narrative:
I approached a short grass field. There was no headwind so the airplane floated a long way. I decided to go around because I was afraid I would not be able to stop by the end of the runway. As I lifted off I heard a 'thud' and believed I had struck something. The airplane was flying normally so I decided to stay airborne until I could get someone to verify that I still had all landing gear. I flew to gatlinburg/pigeon forge, tn, airport and tried to contact someone on unicom. There was no reply. I circled the airport and contacted knoxville, tn, FBO control. They called G/PF by telephone. I made a low pass while they looked at the plane with binoculars. They said all gear was in place so I opened the aircraft door, instructed my passenger again about emergency procedures and landed the airplane at the slowest safe speed. During the flight, there was no change in flight characteristics. Upon inspection we found that the right wing had a dent close to the fuselage and there was a small hole in the right flap. I had an FBO inspect the aircraft. He obtained a ferry permit and I flew the aircraft home solo.

Title: GA PLT IN SMA LANDS HOT AT GRASS STRIP, ABANDONS LNDG DUE TO BEING TOO FAST AND HITS OBJECT DURING TKOF.
Narrative: I APCHED A SHORT GRASS FIELD. THERE WAS NO HEADWIND SO THE AIRPLANE FLOATED A LONG WAY. I DECIDED TO GO AROUND BECAUSE I WAS AFRAID I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP BY THE END OF THE RWY. AS I LIFTED OFF I HEARD A 'THUD' AND BELIEVED I HAD STRUCK SOMETHING. THE AIRPLANE WAS FLYING NORMALLY SO I DECIDED TO STAY AIRBORNE UNTIL I COULD GET SOMEONE TO VERIFY THAT I STILL HAD ALL LNDG GEAR. I FLEW TO GATLINBURG/PIGEON FORGE, TN, ARPT AND TRIED TO CONTACT SOMEONE ON UNICOM. THERE WAS NO REPLY. I CIRCLED THE ARPT AND CONTACTED KNOXVILLE, TN, FBO CTL. THEY CALLED G/PF BY TELEPHONE. I MADE A LOW PASS WHILE THEY LOOKED AT THE PLANE WITH BINOCULARS. THEY SAID ALL GEAR WAS IN PLACE SO I OPENED THE ACFT DOOR, INSTRUCTED MY PAX AGAIN ABOUT EMER PROCS AND LANDED THE AIRPLANE AT THE SLOWEST SAFE SPD. DURING THE FLT, THERE WAS NO CHANGE IN FLT CHARACTERISTICS. UPON INSPECTION WE FOUND THAT THE R WING HAD A DENT CLOSE TO THE FUSELAGE AND THERE WAS A SMALL HOLE IN THE R FLAP. I HAD AN FBO INSPECT THE ACFT. HE OBTAINED A FERRY PERMIT AND I FLEW THE ACFT HOME SOLO.
