Narrative:

Received a low altitude alert from champaign approach while on the RNAV 03 approach into dnv. This event occurred while procedure turn inbound on the RNAV 03 approach. Indicated altitude read 2120 when [charted] altitude was 2;300. ATC reported a low altitude alert and immediately retracted the statement as we climbed back to 2;300.cause of the deviation was due to light-moderate turbulence; IMC; and night conditions during a training flight. Aircraft consistently was experiencing up/down drafts +/- ~500 fmp.
