Narrative:
I was cleared to taxi from the FBO ramp to runway 18L at clt for departure. While taxiing, I stopped at stub taxiway 3 and asked ground for an intersection departure form taxiway D on runway 18L. I understood ground to clear me to taxi into position and hold. I made sure that the approach to 18L was clear and then taxied into position on the runway to takeoff. As soon as I got into position on the centerline of runway 18L, I was told by ground to clear the runway immediately which I did. After returning to a position behind the hold line, I saw a bus jet out in the approach to 18L. From what the controller told me later by phone, he had cleared me to taxi to the hold line and hold short of the runway. Due to the fact that I was already holding short of the runway at taxiway D when I received this position and hold clearance, I just misunderstood the clearance. The business jet was told by ATC to abort the approach.

Title: SMA TWIN PLT MISINTERPRETS AMENDED TAXI INSTRUCTION AND TAXIES ONTO ACTIVE RWY CAUSING GO AROUND.
Narrative: I WAS CLRED TO TAXI FROM THE FBO RAMP TO RWY 18L AT CLT FOR DEP. WHILE TAXIING, I STOPPED AT STUB TXWY 3 AND ASKED GND FOR AN INTXN DEP FORM TXWY D ON RWY 18L. I UNDERSTOOD GND TO CLR ME TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD. I MADE SURE THAT THE APCH TO 18L WAS CLR AND THEN TAXIED INTO POS ON THE RWY TO TKOF. AS SOON AS I GOT INTO POS ON THE CENTERLINE OF RWY 18L, I WAS TOLD BY GND TO CLR THE RWY IMMEDIATELY WHICH I DID. AFTER RETURNING TO A POS BEHIND THE HOLD LINE, I SAW A BUS JET OUT IN THE APCH TO 18L. FROM WHAT THE CTLR TOLD ME LATER BY PHONE, HE HAD CLRED ME TO TAXI TO THE HOLD LINE AND HOLD SHORT OF THE RWY. DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WAS ALREADY HOLDING SHORT OF THE RWY AT TXWY D WHEN I RECEIVED THIS POS AND HOLD CLRNC, I JUST MISUNDERSTOOD THE CLRNC. THE BUSINESS JET WAS TOLD BY ATC TO ABORT THE APCH.
