Narrative:

I had started up the right engine, and was waiting for the signal to start #1. The ramp agent gave me the signal to start #1, and noticed my first officer said the doors were shut. I started #1, and noticed the door warning light was on after the start. I checked the door panel, and saw that the left passenger door was still open. I shut down the left engine and waited for them to close the door. I should have checked the doors myself.
