Narrative:

We were cleared for takeoff on sfo runway 28L and had reached about 15 KTS gndspd when an aircraft west of us was cleared to cross runway 28L. The pilot of this aircraft immediately challenged this clearance and was told to hold short of runway 28L. This solved our problem and we continued our takeoff. This is reported as an example of the alertness and situational awareness on the part of the pilot of the other aircraft and of the need for caution at all times, especially at times of high controller workload.
