Narrative:

I was out flying this 300 pounds experimental aircraft. I had just landed. All 3 wheels were on the ground. I was looking ahead toward the turnoff when the aircraft tried to ground loop with me. I got it under control, but was headed off the right side of runway 17 where the taxiway intersection was. I was about 40' from the taxiway sign headed straight toward it, with no chance of missing it. The sign was on break-away poles, which did break when I hit. The blow broke the wooden propeller and broke off the landing gear, which is just attached with fiberglass resin and 1 small bolt. The tires put a hole in the bottom of the wing. 2 other pilots and I picked the aircraft up by the wings and lifted it on a trailer and put it back in the hangar, where it is now being fixed. The main cause of this incident, I believe, was the lack of experience in tail wheel aircraft on my part. No one was hurt and the builder of the plane said it would not be hard to repair. I will be taking tail wheel instruction before flying this aircraft again.
