Narrative:
Departing rsw, at rotation, the right main outboard wheel departed the aircraft. We made 2 fly-by's so that the tower could evaluate the gear assembly condition. After talking to dispatch and maintenance control, the decision was made to divert to mco. An emergency was declared. Approach and landing was made to runway 36L. The aircraft was taxied clear, engines shut down, gear pins installed and passenger deplaned to busses. Probable cause: wheel bearing failure.
