Narrative:

Departing sju to stx in a normal climb heading 075 degree at 1000' MSL, autoplt engaged. Approximately 7-10 mi out and approximately 2000' MSL departure control vectors 120 degree heading. Using the heading knob 120 degree heading was selected with no response (heading knob was reset for second time and no response). At this time the autoplt was disconnected manually and immediately the aircraft took drastic turn to the left and nose down, at this time the autoplt was reset but nothing happens. The autoplt cbs were manually pulled out. The aileron trim was activated manually with no response. At this moment the captain and myself were using man power. Aircraft control was recovered and an emergency landing was made.

Title: DEPARTIN SJU ACFT DID NOT RESPOND TO AUTOPLT INPUTS, AUTOPLT DISCONNECTED, CIRCUIT BREAKERS PULLED, ACFT CTLS FROZEN IN LEFT DESCENDING TURN. FLC OVERPOWERED CTLS AND RETURNED TO SJU FOR LNDG.

Narrative: DEPARTING SJU TO STX IN A NORMAL CLB HDG 075 DEG AT 1000' MSL, AUTOPLT ENGAGED. APPROX 7-10 MI OUT AND APPROX 2000' MSL DEP CTL VECTORS 120 DEG HDG. USING THE HDG KNOB 120 DEG HDG WAS SELECTED WITH NO RESPONSE (HDG KNOB WAS RESET FOR SEC TIME AND NO RESPONSE). AT THIS TIME THE AUTOPLT WAS DISCONNECTED MANUALLY AND IMMEDIATELY THE ACFT TOOK DRASTIC TURN TO THE L AND NOSE DOWN, AT THIS TIME THE AUTOPLT WAS RESET BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. THE AUTOPLT CBS WERE MANUALLY PULLED OUT. THE AILERON TRIM WAS ACTIVATED MANUALLY WITH NO RESPONSE. AT THIS MOMENT THE CAPT AND MYSELF WERE USING MAN PWR. ACFT CTL WAS RECOVERED AND AN EMER LNDG WAS MADE.
