Narrative:

We had an FAA maintenance inspector jumpseating. When he took our credentials; he photographed them with his personal phone. I asked him about that and he said it is just easier and our licenses are the property of the government. My concern is with operational security and privacy issues. The captain and I had never seen this before; nor had our additional jumpseater. I brought up my concerns with the inspector. The flight was routine and uneventful. I called the union on the way home and they asked me to submit a report on my concerns over these issues.
