Narrative:
While at cruise at 3000' MSL, crankshaft severed, propeller and hub unit struck left wing. Emergency landing followed. Suspected cause had a propeller strike 25 hours earlier. (This is a non certificated engine in an experimental aircraft). Removed shaft for alignment check. Was found out of alignment, was corrected. Shaft crack could have developed at that time. In the future will have all suspect shafts magnafluxed.
