Narrative:
On short final to ry 32 pit tower asked if we could clear the runway at 'P' so he could cross traffic down field. We said we could. After landing we rolled out and were preparing to exit at 'P' when tower said 'make right turn at V, go straight in, contact ramp control.' we proceeded to roll past 'P' approximately 25 yds to 'V' exiting at 'V'. Crossing traffic had not yet begun to roll. The tower angrily stated that we were to clear at 'P'. We stated that we complied with the clearance as issued. We were asked to call the tower. On the phone with tower we were treated poorly and advised of their intent to initiate a violation. The following day I was again asked to call the tower. After the tapes were reviewed, the controller realized that he had transposed his clearance instructions and apologized. He also insinuated that we should have been more aware of the situation. Both telephone conversations provided me very little time to explain our side of the event. Most all conversations with the pit ATC facility end in a fight over the phone or the caller submits to a one sided lecture on their philosophy. For the most part, they are a good bunch of people to work with, as long as things are going well. I cannot view this collective ego being productive to long term safety. Supplemental information from acn 163588. The day of the incident ground traffic was heavy and the controller (tower) to ground operations may have been affected. In addition, communications could have included read back of new instructions, on our part. This however, was hinder by time (less than 50 yds between txwys and landing roll out of aircraft).

Title: COMMUTER LTT TAXIES OFF THE RWY AS CLRNC AND IS ACCUSED OF TAKING THE WRONG TXWY.
Narrative: ON SHORT FINAL TO RY 32 PIT TWR ASKED IF WE COULD CLR THE RWY AT 'P' SO HE COULD CROSS TFC DOWN FIELD. WE SAID WE COULD. AFTER LNDG WE ROLLED OUT AND WERE PREPARING TO EXIT AT 'P' WHEN TWR SAID 'MAKE R TURN AT V, GO STRAIGHT IN, CONTACT RAMP CTL.' WE PROCEEDED TO ROLL PAST 'P' APPROX 25 YDS TO 'V' EXITING AT 'V'. XING TFC HAD NOT YET BEGUN TO ROLL. THE TWR ANGRILY STATED THAT WE WERE TO CLR AT 'P'. WE STATED THAT WE COMPLIED WITH THE CLRNC AS ISSUED. WE WERE ASKED TO CALL THE TWR. ON THE PHONE WITH TWR WE WERE TREATED POORLY AND ADVISED OF THEIR INTENT TO INITIATE A VIOLATION. THE FOLLOWING DAY I WAS AGAIN ASKED TO CALL THE TWR. AFTER THE TAPES WERE REVIEWED, THE CTLR REALIZED THAT HE HAD TRANSPOSED HIS CLRNC INSTRUCTIONS AND APOLOGIZED. HE ALSO INSINUATED THAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE AWARE OF THE SITUATION. BOTH TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS PROVIDED ME VERY LITTLE TIME TO EXPLAIN OUR SIDE OF THE EVENT. MOST ALL CONVERSATIONS WITH THE PIT ATC FAC END IN A FIGHT OVER THE PHONE OR THE CALLER SUBMITS TO A ONE SIDED LECTURE ON THEIR PHILOSOPHY. FOR THE MOST PART, THEY ARE A GOOD BUNCH OF PEOPLE TO WORK WITH, AS LONG AS THINGS ARE GOING WELL. I CANNOT VIEW THIS COLLECTIVE EGO BEING PRODUCTIVE TO LONG TERM SAFETY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 163588. THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT GND TFC WAS HVY AND THE CTLR (TWR) TO GND OPS MAY HAVE BEEN AFFECTED. IN ADDITION, COMS COULD HAVE INCLUDED READ BACK OF NEW INSTRUCTIONS, ON OUR PART. THIS HOWEVER, WAS HINDER BY TIME (LESS THAN 50 YDS BTWN TXWYS AND LNDG ROLL OUT OF ACFT).
