Narrative:
At 4500' MSL on training flight, I was training an ATP student on how to do an intersection hold over weatherford-parker county airport. With no indications and at normal cruise 20' and 2300 RPM, 4000# or 4 hours fuel on board, my right engine made an explosive sound. The aircraft immediately yawed to the right. I went through emergency procedures and feathered the engine. After looking at the cowling on the right engine, I was able to see where shrapnel had penetrated the cowling. I secured the engine and proceeded back to ft worth/meacham airport. The aircraft maintained altitude at 120 KIAS with no troubles. I called regional approach control 120.5 and reported the situation. I stressed that I did not want to declare an emergency, however, I wanted VFR flight following to meacham airport. I did request the emergency equipment to be standing by. I made a smooth landing at meacham with no further incident.

I MADE A SMOOTH LNDG AT MEACHAM WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENT.
