Narrative:

On takeoff just before V1 we had a bird strike on the windshield that did no damage and I elected to continue the takeoff. I had planned to report the strike to tower or departure control as soon as workload permitted. However, as tower gave us a frequency change to departure control, an FAA inspector riding jumpseat distraction my attention by asking about the bird strike. After briefly answering his question, I forgot to make the bird strike report. Upon arrival in memphis, (the first stop/destination) I had the mechanics inspect the aircraft for any possible damage.
