Narrative:
Arriving in ZZZ; we were assigned gate [X1]. As we entered the ramp; ramp control cleared us to the gate and informed us that it was open. As we were taxing along and approaching [X1]; we had three ramp employees ready to marshal us into the gate. While making a left turn to join the lead in line to park the aircraft; I looked both left and right and called out 'clear left.' the first officer also called out 'clear right' as the head marshaler at the gate started to signal us in.as we were making the left turn; out of nowhere it seemed; aircraft Y sped on by us to the left; also making a left turn into gate [X2]. Shocked; I immediately stopped the aircraft and was concerned that this could be; or almost was a wingtip strike caused by aircraft Y passing us. Gate [X2] did not have any ramp workers or ground crew at this stage to signal aircraft Y in; but they continued in past us. Our ground crew; also shocked by the situation; had a few choice words to say to aircraft Y. Realizing at this point that I was not going to continue in with aircraft Y there; and wasn't comfortable in doing so; our ramp crew then moved over to gate [X2] to park aircraft Y who were well in front of us now; and parked them. They then came immediately back to gate [X2] to finish parking us. Both embraer 175s were extended wingtip aircraft. I'm not sure how close aircraft Y came to us; but my first officer and I were extremely shocked; by what we both considered a dangerous; unsafe; and negligent taxi.
