Narrative:
The asde ground radar has been out of service since nov and we have been informed that this situation will continue for 3 months more. This is unacceptable. We have been told that there is nothing they can do because our equipment is one of only a few left in the world. Controllers should not have to work with antiquated equipment let alone work west/O any at all. We believe this is a safety item and I therefore believe something should definitely be done. This tower has equipment older than some smaller facs because we are waiting for the 'new' tower. This should never be the case when it comes to safety. We need to be able to ensure the aircraft are indeed off the runways.
