Narrative:
While on approach shortly [after] gear was selected down; a 'brake degrade' message came up on the EICAS. Go-around executed. While cycling gear to see if message can be recreated gear was brought up at 210 knots causing a 'gear lever disagree' message on the EICAS. Brake degrade message still there. Flight was diverted back to [departure airport] with gear down. Safely landed and brake effectiveness was decreased.
