Narrative:
On takeoff until approximately 22;000 feet and on approach starting around 18;000 feet to landing; there was a very strong dirty sock/gym sock smell. This is consistent with the description of pyrolyzed oil entering the ecs system and is at the times that this event would normally occur. Maintenance was notified; and a description of the smell was notated on the appropriate fume form.

Title: B757 Captain reported a 'dirty sock' odor during climb which dissipated and resumed on initial approach.
Narrative: On takeoff until approximately 22;000 feet and on approach starting around 18;000 feet to landing; there was a very strong dirty sock/gym sock smell. This is consistent with the description of pyrolyzed oil entering the ECS system and is at the times that this event would normally occur.
