Narrative:
I was training a trnee on ground control. When we weren't busy he told aircraft to taxi to runway 28L, when he meant to say 28C. Crossed runway 28C to runway 28L west/O coordination. No incident occurred. The pilot didn't know anything wrong had happened until we questioned him. I missed my trnee's transmission. Suggestions: trnees need to think about what they are saying, rather than just saying it. Trners need to listen to every transmission and word.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: GND CTLR TRAINEE CLEARED MLG TO CROSS AN ACTIVE RWY WITHOUT COORD WITH LCL CTLR.
Narrative: I WAS TRNING A TRNEE ON GND CTL. WHEN WE WEREN'T BUSY HE TOLD ACFT TO TAXI TO RWY 28L, WHEN HE MEANT TO SAY 28C. CROSSED RWY 28C TO RWY 28L W/O COORD. NO INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE PLT DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING WRONG HAD HAPPENED UNTIL WE QUESTIONED HIM. I MISSED MY TRNEE'S XMISSION. SUGGESTIONS: TRNEES NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE SAYING, RATHER THAN JUST SAYING IT. TRNERS NEED TO LISTEN TO EVERY XMISSION AND WORD.
